15 Home Decor Trends in 2020
It’s only March of 2020, yet between natural disasters and viral pandemics, people are staying home more than ever this year.
If you’re finding yourself with plenty of time to think about your home interior and how to improve it, I’m here to guide you on this year’s trends not to miss!
1. Colors are coming back
Finally…. no more white on white everywhere! It’s about time to reintroduce colors into our homes. I suggest infusing vibrant touches of colors here and there, for example, painting the trim in your bathroom a glowing blue or yellow.
Be bold and be daring – you will be on trend!
2. Vintage accents resurface
This is the year you can relish in the fact you didn’t throw away those vintage objects that seemed so outdated 5 years ago. I’ve personally resurfaced a few vintage bowls and textiles to add some funk into my home!
2020 is the year to throw one or two statement vintage items in your modern home décor. Don’t overdo it! Nostalgia still has its limits.
3. Navy Blue, a classic color you will see increasingly more of
If you like clean, practical and classic colors, you’ve found one! Run to your local paint store and buy the “Classic Blue” tone from Pantone to repaint some walls in your living room, bathroom or even bedroom.

4. Floral wallpaper (but not just any type!)
Have you ever put wallpaper on walls? I have plenty of times with my family in France as it was very trendy in the 70’s (yes, I’ll admit I’m not a young chick).
Floral wallpaper is back with bold colors and large scale flowers. Start with one wall if you do not want to feel overwhelmed, and no blisters on the wallpaper please! You have to be quick and handy to achieve a smooth finish.
5. Non-white kitchens
Who cleans in your house? I want to tell the individuals who decide on home trends that all-white kitchens are NOT practical for those of us who clean our own – every stain, hair, and piece of food are visible to the naked eye!
So, forget about white on white. Natural wood cabinets, islands and shelves are now trending. A little bit of warmth and coziness in the sterile white décor we previously strived for. Good news, right?
6. Patina accents
What is patina? It’s a savant word to indicate a finish on a piece of furniture, usually referring to a vintage finish with an aged look.
It’s time to get your furniture wax, old cloth, and elbow strength and revisit the furniture you’re tired of to give it a patina twist and make it new again! Clay and terra cotta colors will be favorites in 2020.
7. Olive trees …. inside the house
Yep. A healthy, clean olive tree in a white pot for your living room or bathroom. Don’t choose the type with actual olives on it or you’ll regret it later when it’s time to clean the room…
8. Antique art
Some people invest money in real estate, the stock market or small businesses. For others, it’s time to start an antique art collection.
Invest in a few pieces you love to personalize your interior and show your visitors your unique taste. Later, these pieces may be worth more than you think!

9. Colored kitchen cabinets
Time to get creative and paint this aging kitchen you’re growing tired of. Go for it! Be courageous with colors that pop like navy blue, icy blue, bright yellow, chartreuse green and dark red.
10. Curved sofas, just because
I have to admit – curved sofas can look amazing with a 60s or 70s interior, but they tend to be on the less comfortable side. So, use one for a small accent sofa, or for the guests you don’t like too much 🙂
11. Kitchen art, the practical meets the unpractical
Throw some collectible items such as vintage ceramics or old kitchen décor objects with your practical, everyday utensils. Show your personality in this room where, let’s be honest, some of you spend 50% of your time!

12. Rattan & Wicker furniture
They are traditional, light weight, inexpensive and mix well with modern décor. Choose rattan and wicker for the chairs, tables or lighting.
13. Free standing bath tubs
These gorgeous, free-standing bath tubs are a statement piece in a bathroom. Not only do they add an eloquent, royal touch to a bathroom, their functionality will make you feel like a queen. They are usually quite deep and long, allowing for the most marvelous & rejuvenating salt bath! Treat yourself with this luxurious decor, you will not regret it!
14. Cozy fabrics to add texture in a room
Who doesn’t like to lay on a cozy throw, have a warm mohair blanket on their lap during a movie, or step their bare foot onto a soft, shearling rug?
It’s hard to overdue texture and warm fabrics in your home, so don’t be afraid to mix and match tones and patterns!

15. Pillows, pillows, and more pillows!
Too many pillows? No such thing! It’s an easy and affordable way to follow trends and refresh your décor.
Select indigo pillows for the navy blue trend, Moroccan boho pillow covers to add the pop colors in your home, or some hand knitted ones to achieve a cozy, textured interior.
